Copyright Policy

How Writing Worlds protects and respects creative rights.

Last updated: September 2026

Writing Worlds is a platform for sharing and discovering creative work. We respect the intellectual property rights of creators and expect everyone who uses Writing Worlds to do the same.

1. Creators Own Their Work

You retain ownership of the original work you create and publish on Writing Worlds.

Uploading, submitting, or publishing a work on Writing Worlds does not transfer ownership of that work to Writing Worlds.

This applies to works including writing, stories, novels, poetry, essays, artwork, photography, audio, video, fashion, culinary work, and other original creative material submitted through the platform.

2. Permission Granted to Writing Worlds

When you submit or publish a work, you grant Writing Worlds a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce, display, communicate, and otherwise make that work available as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, promote, and improve the platform.

This permission does not transfer ownership of your copyright to Writing Worlds.

Writing Worlds may also create reasonable technical copies, thumbnails, previews, excerpts, or other representations required for platform functionality.

3. Your Responsibility

You may only submit work that you have the right to submit.

By submitting a work, you represent that:

  • you created the work or otherwise have the necessary rights and permissions to submit it;
  • your submission does not knowingly infringe another person's copyright or other intellectual property rights;
  • where other people or third-party material are included, you have obtained any permissions required for their use; and
  • any required attribution or credit is provided.

If a work was created collaboratively or rights belong to another person or organisation, you must have the authority to submit it.

4. Respecting Other Creators

Works published on Writing Worlds belong to their respective creators or copyright owners unless otherwise stated.

Viewing a work on Writing Worlds does not give you ownership of it or permission to:

  • copy or reproduce it;
  • republish it elsewhere;
  • distribute it commercially;
  • upload it to another platform as your own;
  • modify or create derivative versions of it; or
  • use it in another way that requires the copyright owner's permission,

unless the creator has expressly permitted that use or the use is otherwise permitted by applicable law.

Where a creator provides separate licensing or usage terms, those terms apply.

5. Copyright Complaints

If you believe a work published on Writing Worlds infringes your copyright, you may contact us with enough information for us to investigate the complaint.

A copyright report should include:

  • identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
  • the Writing Worlds work or URL you are reporting;
  • an explanation of the alleged infringement;
  • information that allows us to contact you; and
  • a statement that the information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf.

Send copyright complaints to [writingworlds26@gmail.com](mailto:writingworlds26@gmail.com).

6. Review and Removal

Writing Worlds may review reported content and may temporarily restrict, remove, or disable access to content where there is a credible copyright complaint, legal requirement, or other sufficient reason to believe that the content may infringe another person's rights.

Where appropriate, Writing Worlds may contact the contributor who submitted the work and provide an opportunity to respond to a complaint.

A complaint does not automatically establish that infringement occurred. Writing Worlds may consider the information provided by the reporting party, the contributor, and other relevant circumstances.

7. Repeat Infringement

Writing Worlds may restrict or terminate access to accounts that repeatedly submit material that infringes the copyright or other intellectual property rights of others.

The action taken will depend on the circumstances and available evidence.

8. Copyright and Platform Content

The Writing Worlds platform itself, including its original branding, interface, design elements, software, text, graphics, and other platform materials created by or for Writing Worlds, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws unless otherwise stated.

You may not copy or reproduce substantial portions of the platform or represent Writing Worlds' materials as your own without permission.

This does not give Writing Worlds ownership of works submitted by contributors.

9. AI-Assisted and Third-Party Material

Contributors remain responsible for ensuring that the material they submit complies with applicable copyright and intellectual property rights.

If a work incorporates material created by another person, organisation, or third-party service, the contributor is responsible for determining whether permission, licensing, attribution, or another lawful basis is required.

Where Writing Worlds asks contributors to disclose AI assistance or third-party material, that information should be provided accurately.

10. Copyright Does Not Mean Content Cannot Be Shared

Writing Worlds encourages creators to share their work, but publishing a work on the platform should not be interpreted as placing that work in the public domain or granting the public a general licence to reuse it.

Unless a creator expressly provides different terms, normal copyright protections continue to apply.

11. Applicable Law

This policy is intended to operate alongside applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. Nothing in this policy removes rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Writing Worlds may update this policy when necessary to reflect changes to the platform, applicable law, or its copyright procedures.
